pipelinestudio 3.1

We are pleased to announce the release of PipelineStudio® 3.1. This release of PipelineStudio includes the following major new functionality:

• Windows Vista® Enabled
• HTML Based Reports

In support of the release of Windows Vista® in January, 2007, we have made changes to PipelineStudio and the PipelineStudio installation package to enable PipelineStudio to install and run under Windows Vista®. These changes not only enable PipelineStudio to install and run on Windows Vista but also afford the application the same security and interoperability afforded to other applications running on Windows Vista®.
Users still running Windows XP® will not be affected by these changes.

The following significant changes have been made to allow PipelineStudio to install and run under Window Vista®:

Security
The installation packages and distributes executables are signed with a secure digital certificate by Energy Solutions International and where appropriate contain information about there required execution privilege level.

Online Help
PipelineStudio previously used the WinHelp help file format. Some features of WinHelp only work if you have administrator privileges in Windows XP: a clean install of Windows Vista does not support WinHelp. The online help for PipelineStudio has been migrated to compiled HTML help format.

Network License
The network licensing component has been updated to use the latest release that is Vista compliant and contains fixed to issues regarding commuter licensing within a locked down network environment.

HTML Based Reports
In support of users requiring the ability to share reports with colleagues, reports can now be generated in HTML format and viewed either within PipelineStudio or in a web browser (Minimum Requirement: Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2).

As well as providing access to the report files locally in either the embedded browser within PipelineStudio or externally through a web browser, the data can be hosted on a Web Server facilitating deployment of PipelineStudio results across the enterprise. Furthermore, since the data is stored in XML and processed to HTML for viewing via JavaScript, the HTML reports can be customized.

Other New Features
Some of the other new features in PipelineStudio 3.1 are:

• Laminar-Turbulent transition inner film heat transfer coefficient
• Effective wall thickness for MAOP and pipe wall expansion calculations
• Table headers can be included in copy/paste into non-PipelineStudio document types
• Enhancements to pump power calculations
• Enhancements to liquid model thermal calculations
• Updated the help file
• Enhanced network validation

PipelineStudio 3.1 is fully backward-compatible with previous versions of the product, enabling users to directly access all existing data files.

Upgrades to PipelineStudio 3.1 are free for all maintenance paying customers and can be downloaded from here. Before downloading, please be sure to review the release notes to ensure that users are in compliance with the PipelineStudio 3.1 system requirements.
